Main Uses

Synthesis of Polyester Resins:

Polyester resins produced by polycondensation with dibasic acids (such as phthalic anhydride, terephthalic acid) possess weather resistance, chemical resistance, and flexibility. They are widely used in powder coatings (accounting for the largest proportion), coil coatings, automotive coatings, etc., and are particularly suitable for outdoor weathering scenarios (due to the absence of α-H, they have strong resistance to UV degradation).

Production of Unsaturated Polyester Resins:

Copolymerized with maleic anhydride, etc., for manufacturing fiberglass, artificial marble, etc., improving the water resistance and heat resistance of the products.

Preparation of Polyurethanes:

Reacts with isocyanates as a chain extender to improve the hardness, aging resistance, and mechanical strength of polyurethane materials, used in elastomers, adhesives, sealants, etc.

Other Applications:

Synthesis of plasticizers (such as neopentyl glycol phthalate) for PVC products, enhancing their low-temperature resistance and migration resistance;

As an antifreeze agent (due to its low freezing point, it remains fluid below -15°C);

Used in the synthesis of lubricating oil additives, surfactants, etc.
